The Australian construction industry has been invited to respond to a Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for construction of the largest water infrastructure to be undertaken on the NSW Central Coast for 25 years.
The Mardi-Mangrove Link Project is a key action of WaterPlan 2050, the blueprint for managing the region's water supply over the next 40 years, and has $80.3 million of funding from the federal government's Smart Water Program.
The aim of the EOI process is to give the construction industry a better understanding about the project and for the Project Team to gather details about the calibre, quality and experience of potential firms to build the infrastructure.
Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils are also looking to appoint a construction contractor that can work successfully with the landholders in Yarramalong Valley who are directly affected by the project.
"In addition to normal construction criteria, effective traffic management and sensitive interaction with the community will be important attributes during the EOI and Tender processes to ensure we minimise the impacts of construction,"says project director, Greg McDonald.
