The Australian Institute of Building (AIB) has appointed Robert Hunt as the new CEO. Hunt joins the AIB after several years in senior management positions with organisations including the Australian Medical Association and Medicines Australia.

Speaking at the Institute's recent council meeting, Hunt said he was honoured to become one of only a handful of people to have held the position of AIB CEO since the Institute was founded in 1951.

"The AIB's board has set an ambitious plan for the Institute over the next three years and Mr Hunt's appointment is crucial for the successful implementation of this plan" said AIB's national president, Patrick Toomey.

Hunt will be based at the Institute's national office in Canberra.
