Subakette’s Takeuchi zero swing excavator: full buckets for fast loading in confined spaces.
SUBAKETTE is a specialist underground services contractor that excavates and installs services for Country Energy, Energy Australia, Integral Energy, the NSW Roads and Transport Authority, local councils and water authorities.
Its teams have to work quickly to ensure relocation of underground works causes minimum disruption to people and businesses. Subakette’s Bart Daly said their work calls for fine tuning, as many of the projects are in the Sydney CBD where they are obliged to allow pedestrian access and safe conditions around excavation sites.
“Every bit of space is critical and maintaining safe pedestrian access around excavation is a major issue. With Takeuchi zero-swing excavators, we can operate in more confined spaces. The zero swing is a real benefit and the way the arm knuckles in to the machine makes tasks a lot easier and faster.
This equipment also enables us to load trucks faster by filling the bucket every time, unlike other equipment where only a half bucket would be filled in the same time. This saves considerable time on the job and certainly helps our bottom line.
Our fleet includes machines from 1.5t to 60t capacity. Over the last five years we have found the Takeuchi zero swing excavators to be the most manoeuvrable and the best fit for this type of work. A 3t machine is perfect for loading a bogey truck in a very tight space,” Daly said.
